Selection and Maintenance Tips for Sports Type Shoes

There are numerous types of shoes, but they all ultimately serve the function of protecting our feet from harm caused by items on the ground. Sport type shoes, in addition to this function, also emphasize their impact on sports performance and the prevention of sports injuries. When running, our feet bear a weight two to three times our body weight. Improperly choosing sport shoes can lead to injuries of varying degrees.

Choosing Sports Type Shoes

Sport type shoes should be slightly longer

(1) People with high arches and more prominent foot bones;

(2) People who sweat more on the soles of their feet;

(3) People with toes that are almost in a straight line;

(4) Overweight people;

(5) People in their growth or old age;

(6) People who walk a lot;

(7) Shoes with a slender design;

(8) Shoes with a pointed toe design.

Sport type shoes should not be too long

(1) People with low arches;

(2) People who are light in weight;

(3) Shoes with a higher heel;

(4) Shoes with a fatter design;

(5) Shoes with a wider toe design;

When selecting athletic leisure shoes and wholesale urban shoes, they should be about 1.5-2.0 centimeters longer than the actual length of the foot.

When buying sport type shoes:

(1) Wear the same socks or socks of the same thickness as those worn during the sport;

(2) Tie the shoelaces and adjust their tightness appropriately, feeling whether the shoes fit well;

(3) Choose moderately soft shoe pads;

(4) Choose lighter shoes, as heavier shoes can cause the wearer to feel insecure and become tired more easily;

(5) Do not have too wide an opening, which can cause the shoe to slip off easily and lead to wear and tear;

(6) Check the heel design of the shoes to avoid high or hard heel protectors;

(7) Soft and flexible shoe uppers and soles should be chosen. If they are too hard, they will not bend easily and can cause fatigue. When trying on shoes, squat to check whether they are flexible enough;

(8) Pay attention to the height of the shoe opening, considering the position of the anklebone to prevent rubbing that can cause skin abrasions;

(9) Check whether the heel of the shoe is higher than the forefoot because the feet are accustomed to this position. Also, note whether the heel is made of an air cushion or has a softer texture;

(10) The seams inside the shoe should not rub against the feet;

(11) Wear the sport shoes and take a few steps, alternating the weight of the full body between each foot to check whether there is enough room in the shoe for the foot to stretch slightly under pressure;

(12) Outdoor sport shoes require a coarse and wear-resistant sole design that is non-slip, and indoor shoes require a flat sole design;

(13) Purchase sport shoes in the afternoon to avoid buying shoes when the feet are relatively small in the early morning;

(14) Choose sport shoes that are suitable for different sports and venues.

Maintenance of Sports Type Shoes

Principles of Sport Shoe Maintenance:

(1) Start maintaining the shoes before wearing them. Insert shoe stretchers or newspaper inside to maintain their shape. Cover the surface with a thin protective film to maintain their appearance.

(2) Regularly maintain the shoes.

(3) Frequently check the shoes for damage.

(4) Use a brush or detergent to remove dust and dirt.

(5) Even durable shoes need rest. Prepare several pairs for replacement when needed.

(6) When the shoes get wet, fix the shape first with a shoe last or newspaper. Place them in a cool, ventilated place to dry, avoiding direct exposure to sunlight.

(7) Use emulsified shoe oil to wipe the leather to keep it shiny and nutritious.

(8) Brush off mud from the sole on a regular basis and apply leather oil or waterproofing agent.

(9) Use anti-mold cleaner to remove dirt and prevent mold.

(10) When storing the shoes for a long time, take them out and let them breathe occasionally to prevent mold. Place a desiccant in the box.

(11) Pay attention to the type of sport when choosing shoes. Running shoes, casual shoes, and sandals are not suitable for intense sports.

Maintenance of Leather Sport Shoes:

Use special cleaning agents to clean them, wipe them dry with a dry cloth, and let them air dry. Avoid exposing them to sunlight directly or using a hair dryer or fire.

(1) Use a dry spray to prevent dust and odors.

(2) Apply protective oil to the shoes regularly.
